Smoking Sucks - French anti-smoking ads spark outrage
Young smokers tend to know that smoking is dangerous for the health, but never really think that the health problems are going to affect them, hence they don't really engage with anti-smoking advertising that highlights the health risks. It is thought that this younger population may respond better to the shorter term consequences of smoking, such as appearing less attractive to the opposite sex, or as this French ad agency explained, persuading teens that smoking as an act of rebellion is really showing subservience to messages created by the smoking industry.
